Updated first trimester screening results
The genetics counselsor called this morning and left a message saying she had good news for me. I was relieved right away. When I spoke to her, she said that before any scans or blood tests, based on my age alone, my risk for down syndrome is 1 in 758. She said after the new blood work and my scan, my risk is now at 1 in 8,257! My trisomy 13 and 18 (which is what they were originally worried about) is at 1 in > 10,000. She offered one more test for spina bifida. I respectfully declined saying the first trimester screening freaked me out enough to last the rest of my pregnancy. She laughed and said that it's rare anyways. Next stop, my big reveal ultrasound at the end of January!
