Four more weeks until the third trimester. I've read that at this point, with modern medicine, a fetus born at 24 weeks has a good chance of survival. That takes a little weight off my mind. I'm feeling really good, no complaints there. I just wish he'd pick a different place to kick me. Apparently my cervix has become a fun trampoline. Ken and I have planned a much needed vacation leaving April 3rd. We're going to the Dominican Republic. I kept telling Ken that I needed beaches and sunshine and relaxing waves. Well, he sure made all that happen. We're staying in a 4 star all inclusive resort and we can't wait. After all the pregnancy stress and the stress at Ken's work, we've really needed this time especially before all the sleepless nights start.
I've had my first experience with a person with the much discussed loss of the filter-for-pregnant-women. I was browsing the baby section at the store (no, I didn't buy anything, just fun to look and day-dream). I hear a couple of women talking about someone and how she's going to be having a big baby because she's huge. Apparently, she was going to be going into labor VERY soon. They see me and immediately look at my belly. She asks when I'm due and I say June. She looks down again and says, "looks like you're going to have a big baby too." Thanks lady. Translation, "You are much bigger than you should be at this point, I'll say it's a big baby to be 'nice'." Luckily no strangers with belly touching yet. People want to touch, but have always asked first...so far.
SHUT UP!!! People are insensitive and they're ignorant. Your size is just fine and it is not indicative of your baby's size!! But I know you know that. I gained like eighty-bagillion pounds and Brady was only four! I'd have been like, "oh, and when are *you* due?".
ReplyDelete:) I was tempted, but could never follow through. She was a big lady too.
ReplyDeleteMy doctor was shocked that my baby was 9 lbs 9 oz 22 inches, he said I hid him very well. I know you've heard this a time or two, but don't worry about what you gain, just focus on eating healthy for the baby~even if that includes strawberry milkshakes (my fave!). I gained over 40 lbs and he's 13 days old and I'm only 16 lbs away from my pre-preg weight. It will come off especially w/ breast feeding. I was paranoid my whole pregnancy about weight gain and wish I had listened to those who told me not to worry about it.. would have taken a lot of stress away! You may very well have a big 'Benson' baby..you've got the genetics working against you.. your poor hoo-ha :( At least mine was a c-section.
ReplyDeleteGood job! Only 16 lbs to go! That's crazy! I'll try to not stress about it too much. Just a healthy baby in the end is all I want. :)
